Plug ins for slight analog distortion in the mix?? Factory present :)
Hello,
I have the Digi 003 rack with ProTools 8.0 and the factory bundle plug ins. Everybody says that digital stuff is crystal clear and you wanna add some smooth distortion to the whole mix to make it sound natural and good. What plug-in would be good for that? Thanks |

This plugin: http://www.masseyplugins.com/?page=tapehead Will do what you are suggesting.. The demo version is fully usable, you just don't get to save presets or settings when you close the session..

Tapehead
McDSP AC2 Sonnox Inflator They all add their own unique characteristics with none particularly winning over the other, obviously tapehead is free if you don't want certain features.

Digi makes one, too:
http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?...00&itemid=5046 Seems ridiculously overpriced to me.. But you can rent it for a couple days...

Massey Tapehead is pretty subtle and cool, as in not tons of color unless you crank it!!
PSP Vintage Warmer2 is pretty cool too, but the latency is murder in LE. |

we own all the ones mentioned here; all have merit...
to our ears the most analogg-y one is the inflator. but, really, it all depends on the music, blah, blah, so do your ears and wallet a favor, get the demos and hear for your self! b.o.l. e

well, thatīs very cool so far. Maybe I can go for one of those.
But I thought more of stuff I already own . Is there nothing inside the plugins of the factory bundle that cost usually $3000 blabla??? Usually should be . |

well, itīs free, but I canīt save the settings .
Iīll maybe start with that, but Iīll have to get a good one. Maybe the McDSP. |

If you like it, it costs $69. There is no better price/quality ratio available in the plugin world than the Massey stuff... You haven't tried it yet but you are assuming it is not a "good one"?
