Sometimes when opening protoolssessions I get this errormessage...
C Generic Waves DSP::Read Exec Time out 3 TestISRBit (0) nil ...or similiar ones, and then my only choice is to take a forced shut-down of the mac. Has anyone experienced the same problem? Is it a Waves 2.8 problem? Is it a bad DSP-card? PowerMac 9600/350 PTIII PCI 4.3.1. |

Do you have a Mackie HUI? waves 2.8 is not HUI compatible.

Waves 2.8 is absolutely HUI compatible.
Where did you hear otherwise?

I´m not using HUI.
Though, after restarting the mac, usually I can open the session without problems. |

I understand that sessions saved under Waves 2.7 are sometimes corrupted. In my experience, a successful workaround is transferring all tracks (except one or two that you can recreate easily from scratch) from the corrupted session into a new empty session. Then recreate that track or two you didn't transfer.

Similar problems exist with opening files that formerly used WS 2.6. (I never upgraded to 2.7) Usually, it occurs after I open a file after closing a previous one. The only solution I know of is to quit PT, and restart the program. If that doesn't work restart the Mac.

Viper,
i don't think that this has anything to do with older waves or with Hui. I experienced the same messages while opening a session but also while opening a waves plug in a session with totally new sessions created with 4.3.2 and waves 2.8. I don't know where it comes from but would be interested too.Working with 2x D24 and 4 DSP Farms on a 9600/300. |

I experienced the same error on a session created on PT4.3.1, Waves 2.8, DAE 3.4.2f9 - it is fine 99.9% of the time, but once (when I had the composer sitting right here, of course) I got that error (it mentioned something about onyx...) and had to reboot eventually. bwg3, mixplus, bit3chassis, etc

I would suggest a clean install of the Waves folder. Pull your old folder onto your desktop. Trash the DAE & Waves Prefs and Empty the trash. Run the installer. Restart. You should be fine after that. Make sure you allocate enough memory to the DAE.

Mikey,
Do you own a HUI? I've had a long conversation together with Jacek Galowski with Waves and Waves finally admitted that problems exist and will be solved in a next update. Try PAZ or L1 and change views a lot of times. Suddenly it will crash. When i disable the HUI it works fine. WS 2.6 is ok, HUI-wise. |
