Default Belkin Thunderbolt Express

Hello Folks,

Anyone has any experience with that interface ??

Say I would like to buy it to use the firewire port for my audio interface, and the usb 3.0 for ilok, eleven rack, a usb 3.0 external drive ...

Would it cause any problems or decrease the speed on its ports ??

Is it approved by avid ?

You should know by now that Avid doesn't approve or disapprove of third party peripherals. I wouldn't use the 11 Rack through this but direct via USB 3 to the iMac - I've tried my 11R through a powered D-Link hub and it wasn't a pretty experience. You're looking at $300 US for this alone and assuming you haven't purchased the hard drive for PT to record to you've got to add that expense as well and you'd probably end up paying more than getting one of the Lacie drives I mentioned over in another thread that has two Thunderbolt ports.

The above being said Belkin makes some pretty good stuff generally. One of the things I'd investigate about this is does the hub allow any of the ports to sleep for power saving?

Not being sarcastic but I'm not going to do a Google search you could readily do yourself. Try looking at OWC for some ideas: http://www.macsales.com/
