Default USB Mini Keyboard Novation FLkey Mini

Does anyone have Novation FLkey Mini and is it compatible with Pro Tools?
They claim, that FLkey Mini is the ultimate portable MIDI keyboard for making music in FL Studio. Nothing said about other DAW’s. I need something small, like it is. Yes, I can buy and try, but I rather ask

A MIDI keyboard is a MIDI keyboard so yes that will work. The sales point for this device is its compatibility with FL Studio out of the box. You won’t get that with Pro Tools. You’ll have to manually map pads and knobs to do what you want.

But that's assuming they did not bork the HUI stuff to not work at all. There is not any mention of HUI in their stuff, and obviously the FL proprietary functions won't work. While I might be suspect about the DAW control/HUI features I'd eat my hat if they broke basic midi note compatibility, esp. since they want to support external physical MIDI hardware.

The other option is just buy a Novation LaunchKey Mini (I have one of those) which is what this physical packaging is based on. They have refurbished ones of those going for the same price.

Thank you both! The LaunchKey Mini seems like a good choice; I hadn’t noticed it before. It caught my eye when I purchased the Softube Model 77 Dual Layer Synth. I’ll need something to use it with!
Check out this video where Bryn Bliska talks about it:

MK3. But would likely make no difference to me, I use this occasionally for basic messing with drum VIs. Testing MIDI hardware etc.

For the Reviews I add the shop link as well - I read them later, but they are IMHO helpful for others, who are looking similar thing:
https://www.thomann.de/intl/novation...y_mini_mk3.htm
I am happy with the purchase! There are also alternatives that can be good too (AKAI Professional MPK mini Play MK3, Arturia MiniLab 3), but I do not bother my head over it.

Is this correct tutorial, how to record playing with MIDI keyborad?
https://pcaudiolabs.com/how-to-recor...-in-pro-tools/
I was a little stuck on how to do this and started to googling the teachings. Playing is fine, but I would like to record it.

Yes that is a good if slightly out of date (but in ways that don't matter) intro. The main thing as the tutorial shows to get started is to be using an Instrument (not MIDI) track with a VI (virtual instrument) plugin inserted onto the instrument track. And make sure you have Options>MIDI Thru enabled and to have the instrument track record armed.

Have a read of the Pro Tools Reference Guide as well may help here esp. what those things mean. But MIDI and VIs are a whole area that still needs a major clean up in Pro Tools to make easier, and recent changes have added more capabilities which are nice but it also adds some more complexity (which you can ignore for now).

If by "playing is fine" you can hear the MIDI being played through the VI then you are 99% of the way there. Presumably the instrument track is already record armed to even hear the VI and you just need to record arm the transport and click the play button to record.

Does that make sense or are you having some other problem?

---

Credit to musicman691/jack on DUC who pointed me at this Novation LaunchKey Mini-25 as a nice basic MIDI keyboard, it really fit my needs (including being super compact).
