Default VPS Avenger strange issue...

For some reason when I hit stop on the transport, I see a huge spike in my CPU while using Avenger. It shoots up to close to 300% and then comes back down. There doesn't even have to be any midi info going to it. It seems to be the "all notes off" command that's making it happen (although I'm not totally sure). I see the spike both on the CPU% window within Avenger and the System Usage window. This even happens if I make a test session with only an Avenger track and no midi even going to it. This happens no matter what playback engine I select. I don't see this same behavior in Logic Pro. The only way I can use Avenger is to set my buffer size to 512 or even 1024. Is there some setting that I'm missing or should check?

Thank you for any advice.

Sonoma 14.5

Happens on Windows here too but haven't installed it on the Mac yet. I was hoping was a windows issue, what a bummer. Well, since we can reproduce it on both machines, maybe we should both contact Vengeance. Rene's brother seems to be handling support now and he's incredibly professional and thorough so if it's a bug there's a good chance it will get fixed.

I just checked the Vengeance Sound website and there is an update for Avenger. It's now 2.2.0. I just installed and and it looks like they fixed the issue. No more spikes. I can run a session with Avenger and use a much lower buffer size.

Ahh I haven't updated for months. Thanks for the heads up, will launch the vengeance updater right now. Awesome!

In many case (if not most), issues like this can be pinpointed down to a plugin needing an update. It's a good general rule to start your quest -- any "strange issue" quest -- by checking for updates to the software causing that particular problem.

Better yet, download MacUpdater and let it keep you updated. It's one of the best apps I've obtained over the past couple years. I start each day at the studio by pouring coffee, grabbing a bite to eat, then double-clicking that MacUpdater icon.

Wow, has macupdater evolved to a point it will even work with plugin versions? That's impressive!
Will check it out, cheers
