Feature Request: Playlist Softkeys
I wanted to make a suggestion to digi in regards to the "PlayList" soft key section.
I find I use this section mostly when tracking vocals or other tracks to be comped later. I love being able to create new play lists right there, but I'm sorely missing the ability to switch play lists from the softkey section. I think a simple "Next & Previous" button would work, or possibly "Up / Down". This would enable me to switch between playlists I'm comping without having to pick up the mouse. It would be great for switching between takes on a vocal performance etc. If this could be done on the fly without interupting playback, that would be even better! Would anyone else like this feature? Is this something you could do digi? Thanks! Jon |

A feature like that would be ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. And I agree 100% with the workflow methodology. A way to browse through playlists directly from the controller ..... let's all go light some candles or something ... throw coins in wishing wells ... whatever it is you do when you desperately want something to happen.

Re: Feature Request: Playlist Softkeys
Think it might be possible to start a "stickied" thread with feature requests? I can think of about 10 of them.

Re: Feature Request: Playlist Softkeys
Hi there,
I'm not an ICON user, so I wasn't aware of the playlist soft key option. But very often posts come up requesting keyboard short cuts to switch playlists - to no avail thus far. Anyway, I'd just posted a similar topic in another thread when I spotted this post - so I thought I might repeat myself and see if it appealed : What I would like to see is a new window that basically replicates a sound report sheet (with templates for typical multi-track music / post prod & location scenarios - switchable at any time with the relevant data reformatted as necessary). Each playlist could have it's own comments field, independent of the tracks scribble strip, and could be tagged using a check box to determine "keepers" (a rating system for subordinate takes would be really useful too). When you come to "Delete unused play lists" you could have filters to prevent playlists tagged as "keepers" (or that rate above a user definable "star rating") showing up in the list. What would be really great would be if the data input could be controlled from a separate keyboard, if so desired, so that an assistant can log the takes whilst the operator runs PT. It might even be handy to have it as a stand-alone utility that can be used on a separate computer and either update over a network or behave like a plugin rewire client??? Another really cool feature would be if it could automatically fill out the sound report sheet with the metadata from a Deva or the like. And of course, the sound report sheets could be printed out in the correct format Any takers? |
