Default Pre or Post fader

Do you recommend pre or post fader for effect sends bussed to a common aux track for reverb and delays. I've been setting up a couple mono reverbs and delays. I set up a mono bus send on each channel. Iv'e been using pre,but on this session I set them as post. What the preferred method?? Also, should I use mono busses to a mono reverb?
Thanks

Favorite is post so , if you move the sourse signal up and down , the reverb or whatever moves up and down with it..That's the most oft used setting for sends, in music at least...

I always go post, for the reason Jules stated above, except in one instance and that's when I want the signal from the track to be more than 50 percent effect. That doesn't happen often, but I have had a few instances (rare, but they happen) where I had the source track fader pulled ALL the way down but the send to an aux with an effect was turned all the way up. That's really the only time it would make any sense to go pre.

Often I will use pre (to seperate outputs) for a completely independent headphone mix for overdubbing.

No rules.... just do what feels right to you.

Pre send to reverb can create an interesting effect on a dynamic ld vocal track. Compressor and ride automation pulls the dry signal down, yet the reverb gets louder, exaggerating the effect of the vocalist moving away from the listener, further into the hall/chamber/room.

Have fun.
