Default Anyone one know why my dashboard has disappeared?

Hi,

Tried to open Dashboard today and its gone! nothing happens. i haven't run it for quite a while, so i don't know when it went belly-up.

Anyone know how to re-install it? don't want to risk my stable system, so don't want to do nothing drastic.

Chris

In truth, you're probably better off with dashboard gone. Some of the keystrokes that show/hide it interfere with pro tools functions, and having it alive constantly in the background wastes precious resources on a studio computer (it's small, of course, but every little bit of power counts!).

We have disabled dashboard on all our systems. In case you decide to do the same, here is the script we use to do it (enter the lines in terminal):

To turn Dashboard off:
defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean YES

To turn Dashboard on:
defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean NO

You have to restart the Dock after making either change for it to take effect:
killall Dock

Thanks for sharing your knowledge! I'm not desperate to get it back, just i have some widgets i wanted to try, and was curious as to why it went south.
