Re: should i turn off updating index message
It will not harm your system to turn it off.
It is simply used by Sherlock to make the searching of files faster. (supposedly) 1. Open Sherlock. 2. Under 'Find' menu select 'Index Volumes' 3. Uncheck 'Use Schedule' next to every Hard Drive. 4. Quit Sherlock I agree with you. It is a pain in the neck. I allowed it to do a full index of my drives once, and then switched it off. It might be worth doing periodically, but it is not a good thing to be going on while you are running a ProTools session. Tweakhead. |

Re: should i turn off updating index message
Actually, it doesn't make searching faster, but it does allow you to search for text "within" a document .
Funny thing is, there used to be an app that did this years ago for the mac, I just forget what it is - and you didn't have to index your HD to use it. Of course, it took a while... You should make sure there is no schedule for indexing. Of if there is, have it done when you don't work (for sure). DC |
