Reinstating expired Student Update Plan after graduation
First time posting. Not sure where to find the information I'm looking for. Tried searching for it with nothing quite answering my questions.
I went to college for music production, and thus was eligible for a student edition and so purchased a student edition of pro tools. The update plan and such has since expired and I have graduated as it was a condensed program (2 years crammed into 1). The most recent version of pro tools I have access to is 12.5 With this said, I am upgrading to a better computer with Windows 10. I've noticed 12.5 to be rather buggy and was thinking of maybe reinstating my update plan. However being that it's a student version I am unsure on whether I can get the regular reinstatement plan and it work or not. So my question is, can you essentially switch from a student update plan by reinstating with a regular update plan? If not, how do I get updates from this point on? |

Re: Reinstating expired Student Update Plan after graduation
Hi and welcome to the community
You can reinstate (upgrade a student license) to the annual plan. Easiest chart to read what you have and what you need to do is here: http://www.sweetwater.com/insync/pro-tools-upgrade-chart Best of luck and hope you get that sorted asap Merry Xmas and let us know if you need any advice or assistance.

Re: Reinstating expired Student Update Plan after graduation
Welcome to the community.
You would be in the Pro Tools 11 w/o Active Upgrade Plan section of the chart Christopher linked to. See the current options available (and note that Reinstatement provides a free second year if you buy/redeem by 12/31/2016). Thanks!

Im doing research and really im seeing that I just need 12.5.1 or 12.5.2. Sadly it looks like my plan expired 2 weeks before 12.5.1 came out, which sucks because I would have just went with that version for the bug fixes. Is there anyway I can just pay like a one time fee of some sort just to get to that update (12.5.1)? Or is that even worth it? Ive had a lot of trouble with 12.5 so far, and I know its the oldest version to have windows 10 support. Just sucks that im stuck to literally one option for windows 10. Almost $400 Canadian is a bit much to me just to update to a more stable version. |
