Default Pro Tools 8 GUI... Wow! major change.

What do you guy's think of the new GUI of Pro Tools 8?

For me personally..I'm moved from Sonar to Pro Tools just recently for multiple reasons......

One of them being...I hated the "gordy", look of mixer window that Sonar went to in version 6.

It was so busy and tireing on the eyes.

They just started getting to many colors everywhere.

I'd like to see if many of the pro studios upgrade to 8 after working so many years with Pro Tools "Classic Signature Look."

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks.

Define the 'classic signature look'. Pro Tools has already evolved since I joined them @ v5.

Anyway, visually I'm liking everything I'm seeing so far.

Just deciphering what happens to existing Music Production Toolkit owners (who paid a small fortune for those extra tracks). Fingers crossed we're automatically eligible to get the V2 Toolkit.

Yeah I'm with you on that one. I got The MPTK and the DV2 so I'm hoping there is a good deal as far as upgrading to the CPT or an automatic upgrade to the MPTK2.....That said one of the reasons I bought them was to encourage Digi to expand the capabilities of LE. Which they certainly have done. There will almost certainly be upgrade bundles with the new toolkits when the product launches.

Looks like we are finally getting native surround mixing in LE too!

Hard to say anything about the new GUI before having worked in it. I liked the old faders. Don't know about the colors. It's certainly better looking aestethically, but will have to wait and see if it's better looking for working in

I'm very excited about this update, the MIDI and scoring stuff will help me immensely at Uni. I'm also pretty curious regarding those new bundled instruments it mentions... the Piano and Boombox or whatever it was....

Definitely with you guys about the MPTK stuff tho, I would really hope that we get a free upgrade to the new one.

I just finished watching the videos and reading the blurbs...nothing there I didn't like. I'm SOOOOOO drooling....!

I'm sure you can keep the "plain" grey mixer if you want. It looked like color was simply an option. I don't use color much myself.

Surprises:
1. 48 mono/stereo tracks right out of the box!
2. integrated scoring
3. elastic pitch (we kind of expected this, though)
4. more VIs.

If I have to upgrade to 10.5, so be it. I just hope it works with my 002R and doesn't require an Intel Mac. My ol' dual G5 still has some life in it.

Yes you can adjust the overall brightness and the intensity of the colors.

I've been using Logic more lately and while I'm not in any rush to jump
back over, I am looking forward to upgrading . I do get a feeling
this won't be the usual $75 upgrade fee though. Once I'm done with
my current project I'm going to start working with 8.0 and see how
the workflow changes.
