Yeah, except that’s not the naming convention they outlined when they switched to this new version numbering system in 2018.

‘The plan is that version numbers will now reflect the year and month of the release. The first release, 2018.1 - corresponds to January 2018. A February release would be 2018.2, March would be 2018.3, and so on. If the software requires more than one release in a month (an urgent patch is needed, for example), the extra release will be identified by a third number in the format 2018.1.1. Product splash screens, about boxes, Avid Master Accounts, and Application Manager will display the full version number – for example 2018.1.1’

We’re in April, so going by the above, it should be 2021.4.

Incorrect version numbering aside, I’m quite surprised they didn’t fix the import audio dialog bug. That’s not gonna go down well.

There are only 2 fixes.
Quote:
Pro Tools 2021.3.1 resolves the following critical bugs:
The Parallel Task Optimizations preference is no longer missing from Pro Tools Software (PT-271772)
Knife-edge automation will once again follow the edge of the clip boundary (PT-271659)
The HD Driver changed with 2021.3. Nothing new in the latest HD Driver (they just recompile it with any release.)

Don't know why anyone is surprised other bugs aren't fixed. They've specified the "critical" ones they fixed in the notes.

Yeah, I was surprised that the import dialog is still messed up. and I agree, the version # violates their own rules. Looking backwards, one will assume this update came out in March.

I count 121 bug fixes - where I come from in software dev, that's pretty substantial.

The Avid Link installer for P.T. 2021.3.1 is broken. I used Avid Link to install 2021.3.1 on both my desktop PC and my laptop PC. It UN-installed 2021.3, rebooted, then supposedly installed 2021.3.1 and rebooted again. Now, on both PCs, Avid Link still thinks I'm on 2021.3 and wants me to upgrade. When I run Pro Tools, the version number it displays (on the splash screen AND Help/About) is 2021.3.0. So I have no idea if I'm running 2021.3.1 but it's displaying the wrong version number, or if Avid Link simply reinstalled 2021.3.0.

If I'm reading the document correctly, those 121 fixes were in 2021.3. 2021.3.1 only fixed 2 critical bugs.

I'm waiting to hear whether tab to transient is still misbehaving. Won't be updating from 2020 until that's ironed out.

Whats happened to UVI Falcon. Updated to latest version 2.14 plus latest Pro Tools 2021.3.1 and it says that I don't have a valid licence for Falcon? Both were downloaded from my Avid account

For me crashing when opening a session. Any tips?

Justin

UPDATE: Got my rig working finally after deleting prefs and, perhaps more important, empty the plugin directory and add them back some at a time, restarting Pro Tools as needed. Honestly, Avid should make a better plugin manager from Pro Tools. I know some of you are thinking, how many plugins do you need? Do you really need 1,000? Clearly no. Will I continue to hoard plugins. Most definitely yes!
