Default Harpertown Works!

I was nervous about this but I figured I'd try to install PT11 on my Harpertown. So far it is working for me. PT11 software only w/Mackie Onyx 1640, OSX 10.8.3.

AWESOME!

My plan is to go PT 9/10 + CPTK to PT 11HD software and use my Digi 003 in the studio and run without any hardware on my 17" i7 MacPro laptop for home use. Also running WAVES Mercury, East West Goliath, SD2, Broadway Lites horns... anybody see any problems with this plan?

Thanks in advance!

Lisle

I've seen an approx 20-30% improvement on my Harpertown.

Interesting. Not bad, but where is this 'Exponential' improvement that Avid kept touting? So far most people seem to be in that 20% to 30% range. That is a far cry from an 'Exponential' increase in power.

What year is the Harpertown Mac? I have an early 2008 and was told it would not work with HDX at all. G

If it allows me to actually use the individual components of ozone 5 advanced that would be worth it to me. That sucker is a HOG as an RTAS. Hopefully pick up an ilik 2 tomorrow and try the trial.

Early 2008 IS Harpertown, but the OP is not using an HDX card, he's just running native software and using a Mackie I/O it appears.

HDX is not compatible with Harpertown / 2008 Macs, and as it turned out for me, even HD Native cards are not reliable on the Harpertown macs. But running native software without Avid hardware cards works fine.

So far I have seen that too, but confused on what are they comparing it against? Is it by instance count or is it against PT 10 CPU meters. If it is later, how are they sure both PT 10 and PT 11 CPU meters are measuring and showing the same thing.
