Default Sonnox Broadcast Bundle

Sorry to bring in this pedestrian subject on the forum. I was just thinking of purchasing the Sonnox Broadcast Bundle, mostly for the fact that there is DSP version for them. I remember working with them in the past in other facilities - and demoing at a point - and I didn't fall of my chair.

The number of plugin vendors has risen exponentially since these plugins where first introduced and I've been getting the job done with Fabfilter, McDSP and Flux plugins.

Do you guys find the plugins to be still relevant in 2017?

Eq less so. Fabfilter for me now. With 24 bands and eq match and freq display etc. Dynamics yes. Nothing touches Sonnox there in my humble opinion. The combo of compressor and limiter in one plug with post dynamics eq and warmth ( a gentle inflator) is great. I use the inflator on dialogues to help the dials swim above the M&E. I like the suppressor too - but like all de-essers, one size does not fit all I use channel de-easing with the SPL two knob one, as it causes least damage. Sonnox is great for surgical stuff. Fabfilter de-ess if the other two fail. I also use the suppressor to kill the silly large dynamic bass notes that some composers put in scores these days. It is a great freq selective dynamic controller..

I don't know what the bundle has but the Limiter v2 and the Inflator are still as awesome as ever.

There are other EQ's that can duplicate the pristine EQ of the Oxford but not many options that are AAX- DSP.

I still use the transient designer as well...but there are many other options for this those as well

I really like the GML version of the eq.

Cheers for the feedback all. Great to know. Mike, I never thought about the SPL De-esser although I am a fan of the Plugin Alliance stuff. Will check it out.

Thanks.

The SPL does the least damage. If you like the McDSP SA202 for rounding things on a bus (not de-essing but smoothing), then using the SPL to de-ESS on source channels seems to achieve a similar smoothness without the "dullness" of many de-essers. Hard to write, easier to hear
