Default Pro Tools 12, what's the solution?

Hi Guys. I've been trying to find my way around PT's 12 for a while now and as
far as being able to make it do what I want,(for lack of a better way to put it),
I am continuously frustrated! If I select a clip to do any kind of editing it only plays back once and moves on! Then I have to go back, select the clip again and start over! I hope someone understands what I'm saying. It's probably not the best way of expressing the problem. Where can I find help and advice
aside from the reference manual. There seems to be nothing on this subject in the You tube videos. What I would really like is some instructional material
on how to work the basics in Pro Tools 12. Any help and/or advice will be appreciated. Thanks

Maybe you want Loop Play?(right-click on the Play button at the top of the EDIT window to see the options, just as you also can do to the Record button for those options)

"N" key works in Command Focus Mode or go into Preferences and UNcheck Timeline Insertion/Play Start Marker follows playback. Look in Chapter 8: Preferences under Operation.

Checked, the cursor stops where you stop, so if you have a clip highlighted it won't be when you stop playback. Unchecked, the cursor goes back to where it was when you started playback, so if you have a clip highlighted, it remains highlighted.

In Commands Focus Mode, "N" toggles the Preference On/Off (UNchecks/Checks it) and it's very easy to inadvertently hit the "N" key.

Thanks everyone for your help. Obviously a lot of things must have happened between Pro Tools 12.6 and 12! I'll try to work it out with each of your suggestions.

"N" toggles the Preference On/Off and the setting in Preferences have both been around long before PT12.

I’m fairly sure the solution to most of your Pro Tools 12 inquiries can be found here: http://resources.avid.com/SupportFil...ide_12.8.2.pdf
