Default Midi instrument delay compensation

Hi,
anybody can tell, if Midi track, Midi Input and/or Midi Output delay compensation is implemented in PT 2018.1 finally?

thanks

there has been sample offset for every single external midi track for ages now.. this is the only daw i know of that offers so precise.. others use ticks or samples..

or do you mean something else?

I mean the following scenario:
1., You use a PT session to do all your arrangement or mixes and there
can be enormous delay on the tracks because of plugin usage, which will
be compensated with Delay compensation
2., Now you want to add one more Keyboard track with a hardware synth.
Unfortunately the Miditrack in PT dosen´t get the information, that it should
also delay the Midi information to the outside world
Has this problem solved in the latest PT version?
thanks

I would assume it gets compensated for once it’s in PT and gets sent out of an actual send.

But I can’t remember off the top of my head.

i think you are maybe having some large latent plugin on your master or something, and are having a delay when you press your keyboard to when you hear it in pro tools? You have the external midi being monitored in a pro tools input yes?
If i am correct, and you are using large latent plugins somewhere, this is normal for any DAW.

otherwise, once again i just do not understand your question.

i am using massive outboard synth setups here with uad effects galore in protools, i.e lots of plugin latency, and everything is compensated correctly when i record and playback midi of my hardware synths.

Honestly i am so confused by your post, but i want to help so i am trying to understand. Sorry.

I think you are right here....

From the manual

With Pro Tools, latency occurs as follows:
• All Pro Tools systems can have Virtual Instru- ment plug-in MIDI-to-audio latency (such as when playing a virtual instrument live and mon- itoring the instrument’s output).
• ProToolssystemshaveinput-to-outputmoni- toring latency on any record-armed tracks or Auxiliary Inputs with live inputs.
• HDXsystemshavemonitoringlatencyontracks that have one or more host-based plug-ins.
The latency amount is related to the H/W Buffer Size setting—the larger the buffer size, the greater the latency. You can reduce the amount of moni- toring latency by reducing the H/W Buffer Size set- ting. However, even at the smallest buffer size, there is still some latency.
In addition, reducing the buffer size limits the number of simultaneous audio tracks you can re- cord without encountering performance errors.

The only solution I found is to set the max delay compensation to ZERO on all tracks !
The way to this goal is obtain by FREEZE ALL and DEACTIVATE FX on the mix bus.

Delay compensation is a nightmare with MIDI in Pro Tools.

The other option would be to deactivate manually the delay compensation of the instrument track you are record on. Then re-activate it for playback. That's a pain. And it doeen't work if you want to punch in ! So I forgot this option.
