Default How good are YOU with your 003

just wondering how many people are 'really' proficient using their 003 or who tends to just use the faders and stick to mousing around more often?
I'm finding that I am starting to use more of the features straight from the console but generally things are quicker to do with mouse clicks.

While there is a lot there, sadly, I still mouse a lot. I developed a work flow from 3 years with a 002. One problem with the 003 that I hope gets addressed in a firmware update is, when you select sends and use fader flip(which puts the aux sends on the faders), the scribble strip no longer shows the names of the tracks. Kind of makes that feature useless for a big session. As for fader rides or automation writing, I still use the mouse and just draw it in. I do love the transport controls and being able to grab a fader now and then, but I long for a new controller with a better display and 16 (at least) faders...Command16 anyone?

I'm more than happy with the digi003. I use mouse less and less during mixing. Use it a lot during automation. Even headphone mixes are made very fast with the flip mode. I simply put mix faster and much more efficient with it.
I love the extended feature compared to the digi002.
So all in I think it's the best controller (exclude icon).

For me, the 003R made more sense so I went that route.

Had my 003 for about two years now, and I still use the trackball more often.
Why?
I will record with the 003, but then retreat to my little mixing room, using the Mbox 2.

In hindsight, I wish I'd bought the rack version...even more, I wish Digi had come out with eight preamps (like they now have with the 003 Rack+) when I bought my gear.

Still, I resolve to use less trakball and more hands-on.
No sense in letting that technology go to waste.

i use a 002, and would kill for the little added features the 003 has. so, if i had the 003, i would use it extensively.

I love my 003 for the transport controls (as albee said.) I can move so much quicker through a session when I'm editing using those instead of finding the transport on screen. It also allows me to keep the transport hidden so I can see an entire window of waveforms to edit instead of moving around the transport to see where I want to edit. Also, as said before, automation still seems easier (IMO) to write in with the mouse, but it's nice having the ability to pull a fader down/up. Also, being able to slide through the banks of channels one at a time is really awesome for me. I'll be mixing drums, then guitars, then bass, etc and being able to keep the channels close on the faders helps me a lot. I almost exclusively mix on the faders, but when tracking I'll use the mouse.
