Default output lights on #2 192 flashing

I have two 192 I/O's and a sync I/O connected to my G4. About every 12 seconds the #2 192 even numbered output lights flash (scroll) from right to left. The sync I/O is set to internal. The lights flash while protools is stopped or playing back audio.

The sound that is emmited is just a brief pop of static.

has my 192 gone mad?

Assuming you have Loop Sync connected correctly (you can see how easy it is to mistake the Word Clock for the Loop Sync connectors, or neglect to loop back to the Sync I/O)...

Have you tried swapping the interface cable from the cards to the 192's from #1 to #2, and the External interface cables (from the primary 192 to the secondary) to determine that it's not an interface cable problem?

Also, what does DigiTest say (run it multiple times). While it's not the most reliable source of information, it just might find a problem.

Or...

Maybe your 192 HAS gone mad. I had a problem with two channels on the A/D in one of my 192's. It started as occasional pops, and after a month graduated to full-scale noise. Digi swapped it out in two days. All is well now.

ctmartin,

Thanks for the reply. My 192 was in fact mad. Actually, it was pissed. One of the loop sync cables wasn't attached at all. I reconnected the cable, powered everything back up and the "problem" has gone away.

Thanks for steering me in the right direction.

Jamie
