I have two partitions: one for PT and another for everything else I do. Core Audio is works fine on the PT partition, but on the other I ran into a problem trying to get Core Audio to work with my 002 on OS X 10.6.3 this evening. In hopes that this helps someone else out, here's what I did to get it working...
On my non-PT partition: I realized that I had an older version 7.x of CoreAudio. I downloaded and installed the lastest CoreAudio download from the new Avid version of Digi (I had a horrible time finding it). CoreAudio Drivers. This page says it's the CoreAudio Drivers v8.0.3. You'll notice when you download it, the dmg file is actually 8.0.1. I tried installing that and it wouldn't launch at all. Suck. I navigated my Finder to my PT partition and found the CoreAudio driver on that partition was 8.0.3cs2. I tried deleting some preference files that Digi recommends, but that didn't solve it and I don't think deleting these files had anything to do with the final solution. I could be wrong, so take note- this may need to be done. Next I found the PT updater that I downloaded for 8.0.3 on my harddrive (you can find it here) and I opened the dmg file. That gave me the .mpkg file and I "Ctrl+click" on that and selected "Show Package Contents". I navigated into the Packages folder and double clicked and installed both "Digidesign CoreAudio.pkg" and "Interlock Extensions.pkg". (I uninstalled the Interlock Extensions later, not realizing they are needed to run CoreAudio. Keep them installed!) After installation, CoreAudio showed that it was running v8.0.3 on my non-PT partition (under Get Info). I clicked to launch it and immediately got a crash report. A little ways into the report I saw this: Dyld Error Message: Library not loaded: @executable_path/../Frameworks/CFnd.framework/Versions/A/CFnd Referenced from: /Applications/Digidesign/Digi CoreAudio Manager.app/Contents/MacOS/../Frameworks/DFW.framework/Versions/A/DFW Reason: Incompatible library version: DFW requires version 8.0.3 or later, but CFnd provides version 8.0.1 I found the framework in HD\Library\Frameworks\CFnd.framework. Comparing the info on that folder and the same path on my PT partition, I found that the non-PT partition CFnd.framework file was v8.0.1 and the PT partition file of the same filename was v8.0.3. I replaced the 8.0.1 folder with the 8.0.3 folder and BAM! Core Audio finally works! I'm not sure if there is an installation pkg that will give you the needed v8.0.3 CFnd.framework folder...maybe a Digi staffer can help out on that one. I also didn't see an easy CoreAudio.pkg in my lastest cs2 update, but this is working on v8.0.3! Hopefully this helps one or two of you out there to solve a problem! |
