audition midi clips?

Hello,

After the latest midi changes in Pro Tools the default midi thru instrument option has been removed from the prefs and replaced with a new system.

But now I´m trying to audition a midi clip from the clips list (holding opt+clicking on clip) but I get no sound as I have no default instrument listed.

It doesn´t matter if I input monitor or record enable any track, there is no sound emitted.

Going to the reference manual it actually still outlines the old way which is no longer available of course.

Did Avid drop a ball on this one and forget to add an alternative or am I missing something?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

What exact version of Pro Tools are you currently on and on what OS and OS version?

Hi,

I am on the latest version of PT 2024.10.2 and my OS is Sequoia 15.2.

This is working here with explicit or implicit Instrument Track monitoring.
With the pref - MIDI Input Monitoring follows select track preference - select a track and then OPTION click in bin. With the pref off, explicitly toggle an Input for any Instrument Track, then audition in the bin again. (Also make sure you have an audition path defined in IO Setup).

This default thru workflow is being rejiggered for the next release which will restore and augment previous workflows.

It works now after a prefs trashing and re-doing those settings you talk about.
