Default Why are some plugins available as mono only? Ex: Maag EQ

I've picked up a few plugins lately and find that some are not available on all tracks all the time. For example the Maag EQ among others, seems to only want to do mono instances. Slightly confused by this designation. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks.

When there's no option in the multichannel plugin list on a stereo track, look in the multi-mono list. You will be able to use that on stereo tracks.

Okay, I'll check that when I go to the studio later today. Thanks.

I just picked up the Maag EQ and found that to be puzzling as well. It is available as multi-mono, as I'm sure you've learned. I sent a support request to PI just to see what the reasoning is for this. I'll report back if I hear anything.

Why would you need it in stereo rather than multi mono?

Stupid question...does anyone even make a "real world" stereo (linked) EQ? In a quick search I found a few dual channel units but none that were truly stereo, i.e. in the way a stereo (or linked dual mono) compressor works.

Inquiring minds...are going to go cook supper...

There is a slight risk of accidentally un-chaining the two sides of a multi-mono, but other than that, no other reason I can think of. Except maybe plugin menu consistency...

I use a mono Audio Track (for guitar/vocal etc.), then “New Track” output from mono Audio Track to stereo Auxiliary Track (for all other stereo fx that aren’t bussed), then “New Track” output from stereo Auxiliary Track to stereo Audio Track. (Print to track).

I load the VST64 version of Maag EQ in BlueCat’s PatchWork on the stereo Auxiliary Track = stereo Maag EQ
