Default \"Beat marker can not be created\"

Im trying to place beat markers on some audio to calculate tempo.

I put the first one on the first beat, but when I try to place the second it says "bar beat marker could not be created because they are either too close or too far apart from a neighboring bar beat marker to support a valid tempo"

I tried putting markers all over the place and it said this every time. Any suggestions?
