Default Trouble with Audiosuite Pitch shift

Hi All,
I just want to raise the pitch of a bell for a theatre sound effect so thought I would use Audiosuite Pitch Shift.
Sounds absolutely fine on Preview (raising pitch 7 semitones, I can hardly hear any artefacts at all) but process the track to use it and the effect is awful... warbles, distortion, 'lumpy' bits (!).
Am I doing something wrong? How can this process in real time fault-free, but then come up with glitches after processing the audio?

I am running PT8 on a MacPro Dual 2.66 Xeons with 6Gb Ram....

Help?

Cheers
Mark

Just a guess and not in front to test this, but I have a feeling that even if the box is checked to time compensate the change is checked Audiosuite will play it as if it isn't. Make sure it's off, then it will be just varisped up with no artifacts. Or if you're using the time change AS, make sure it's set to Varispeed, which is with no time compensation.

Instead of the AS Pitch shift plugin, try Elastic Pitch. Assuming you have PT8 or later, enable Polyphonic Elastic Audio on the track. Highlight the region you want to shift(and separate region if its attached to other audio). Right-click9Option-Click) on the region and select Elastic Properties. Click/drag on the semitones window and drag up to raise the pitch. Play it to see if it sounds like what you want. If it does, disable EA and COMMIT.
