Default Digi 192 AD Card Repair

I'm curious, I've got an AD Card for my 192 that gives constant noise from channel 3 and is unusable. Looks like a capacitor may be fried. Has anyone tried to have one of these repaired before? Is it cost prohibited?

if you can do the work your self (or know some that can do the work) I don't see how it is cost prohibitive

now if the card gets damaged further and is beyond repair, you might have to buy a replacement

I don't really know what I'm doing as far as a do it yourself on the AD card. The cards can be had for 600.00 pretty easy, so if I send this back to Digidesign, will it most likely cost me more than just buying another one? So that we are all on the same page, this is the card that adds 8 additional inputs to a 192 I/O.

Hey Barry,

I've replaced two 192 A/D cards, most recently in 2006 at a cost of $218.50 including fast shipping of the replacement card, which is a refurb. Mine had the same symptoms as yours, FWIW.

Call Digidesign customer Service & speak with the repair dept. who'll set you up. It's reasonably cheap & quite painless... and FAST in my experience... To date I've used Digi repair five times that I can think of over the course of 14 years & ALWAYS been delighted with the quality of service. (I know I know, SOMEbody's gonna have to chime in with their horror stories, and YMMV, but they've worked great for me...) HTH.

Warmest Regards,
Brian

Barry,
Like Brian I too have had to replace 2 cards . I also used Digi's Repair department. It was quick and reasonably priced. Don't hesitate to use them.

Does it matter if I bought it used? It's not registered to me. I may be able to get a transfer of ownership done.

It won't matter if you bought it used. The current price for a repair is $270 - and that covers a replacement if the card is beyond repair.

Contact Tech Support by phone to get this set up - 650.731.6100

I realize this is an old thread but i have the same issue but in country Australia.
Does this offer still exist and how is best to contact Avid Support other than phone given the time difference, Did contact local dealer who has quoted more than twice the cost as above.
