suddenly all midi muted

I think I accidentally hit a hotkey or something and now my recorded midi notes aren't playing (no lights on midi interface) even though the meter lights do spike for note on events. If I record enable a midi track and hit keys, notes do play, so I don't think it's a setup problem. It's basically the same behavior as if the mute button was on for all midi tracks, but the mute buttons aren't on. Any ideas?
