my friends brother was playing on my imac and put all these files into the trash by accident...they were still there but i don't know where they belong - can someone tell me how i can restore these files into their proper location?

There is no easy solution to this, coleslaw.
There is no undo for moving file locations in the mac, so you will have to use your good sense to put them back. Hopefully you will NOT have named everything 'Audio 1', 'Audio 2', etc etc..... and have named files that make sense for each session. Then, you can restore your friend's brother to his proper location ! |
