Default Pro Tools M1 Mac Big Sur please HELP!

Sorry, in a bit of a panic here. Session imminent. It looked like everything was fine, but it isn't.

Ok here’s what’s happening. Running latest Pro Tools on OSX Big Sur on a new M1 mac mini, with Rosetta. Whether I open an old session or try to create a new one, no matter which drive I try to create on or open from, I get the “not a valid audio record volume” or “not a valid audio playback volume”. I’ve tried with internal and 2 externals.

Now, I’ve been told I need to fix this is the workspace, but “workspace” is greyed out in the Windo menu, as is “default” under New Workspace.

I tried phoning support, but apparently my yearly subscription doesn’t come with phone support, so here I am.

Try this,,,, click to highlight on the drive icon internal and or external

Right click / get info / sharing & permissions (at bottom of dropdown window) / click the lock to unlock / change privileges to read and write .

thanks to both of you for replying so quickly.

Well, I've tried both things, and I am now able to open a new blank session, though not an old session, nor any of my templates.

It's behaving really strangely -- it simply doesn't respond when I try to load a session. No error message, just nothing.

Have you tried making a blank session and then importing everything from the session that won't open? Worth a shot.

Yep would be my next move Or open blank session and see what destination volume is and manually change it ?
I am only guessing but if the disk permissions were screwed up then it's possible the pathway for start guide is lost or not on the correct disk volume (like maybe on "documents" or something...

Everyone is missing the 800 pound gorilla in the room - PT is NOT yet okayed for use on Apple Silicon. Weirdness can be expected until such time as Avid sees fit to make PT and M1 h/w work together.
