Default basic question about faders

sorry if this sounds elementary, but I recorded some wav guitar tracks and I use the avid artist mix. when I try to adjust some volume levels, say I bring the level down, it automatically goes back up.

never had this issue. thoughts?

Sounds like it's reading automation; try turning it off for those tracks...

That's exactly what it is, and by strictest definition,it isn't an issue. It's how it works. ANY automation (even one breakpoint, like a single automation dot,) will cause this fader behavior. Go to "volume" view, highlight the break points, hit "delete" and they'll go away.
