Default Digi 002r - Pro Tools 7.1 - Windows 8?

For the past two days I've been driving myself crazy with this issue. Fairly recently I bought a new computer (see Sandra report below) b/c my old one, like my Digi 002, is fairly old. So I went to install the factory provided software for Pro Tools 7.1 and during the process of installation it stops and says "The driver installer could not find your Digidesign hardware. Would you like to retry the diver install?" If I hit yes it tells me to connect the device and hit ok. If I hit no it continues on to download the rest of the program.

I did have to add a FireWire card to the PC - which you can see in the report below. The drivers for the firewire card are/ seem to be loaded properly. The light on the back of the 002 lights up green but the "1394" light on the front is dark. I've tried multiple FireWire cables as well.

I've tried installing a bunch of different drivers off the Avid website - the latest ones which support 002 get the "1394" light blinking but still it does not allow Pro Tools to open.

Anyone had a similar situation or have any ideas?

I'm open to any suggestions.

SiSoftware Sandra

Default Re: Digi 002r - Pro Tools 7.1 - Windows 8?

I'm not aware of anyone with a AMD APU system that's running PT.

I had the win8 beta running PTLE8 and it seemed fine. I suspect that 7.1 is going to be just a little to old. I would try to pick up a copy of PTLE8 somewhere. You might be better off installing XP on that machine if its possible and your dead set on 7.1.

I'm not sure if I should be advising ditching the computer, ditching PTLE 7.1 or ditching Windows 8. Assuming you can get the driver sorted out you should be right clicking the Pro Tools .exe and selecting "Run as administrator".

7.1 has the driver embedded in the installer. PT11 which would be required by Windows eight uses a separate driver installer.

The deck is very much stacked against you here

Thanks, guys. I figured there wasn't an easy fix to this. I thought about PT 8 or maybe 10; I saw others having success with 10 and the 002r on the boards.

I know Benoni was running PT9 on Windows8. I would look for a used PT 9 or 10 asset if your going to stick with Win8. Or use your 002 serial and cross grade to PT11 which includes a PT 10 licenses in the bundle. Also the last I knew the 002 was working in PT11 but not officially supported. Although things may have changed with the latest drivers.
