MAJOR PROBLEM THOUGH! The screen on this thing reflects anything and everything.
I'm considering an E1705 to use as a mobile composing station with an MBox or Digi002. Glare would definitely be a problem. Did you get the standard LCD or the upgrade to the TrueLife display? Looks like the better display uses an ATI card, not sure what that does for PT compatibility. Hmmm....

Hey guys,
I know I started this thread for PC laptops, but with the release of the duo Intel processors/chipsets in the new MacBook Pro laptops I have to mention them here. We already have confirmation of the first Mac Mini Duo Intel running on XP and PTLE 7.0 and it won't be long that we will have the ability to do the same with the MacBook Pro. This will be an incredible versatile laptop being able to dual boot on both OSX and XP. The build quality on these Mac Powerbooks and MacBook Pros are better than any PC I've used or seen yet and they do run virtually silent. Great graphics with the ability to DVI out to larger screens and much lighter and smaller footprint than most PC laptops. I'm getting one this summer with a dual 2Ghz. Life is good!

I've got the WUXGA truelife. It may just take some getting used to. I've ordered some 3M anti-glare/privacy material to try though. I'll keep you posted.

But allen.. What about the Athlon 64x2 4800+ laptops? Which run the same speed as the Desktops with x2's in them. And is also silent. But... Macs are pretty cool. But I can't justify spending money for a Mac when i can build a PC for half the price.

I hear you. AMD will always be one step ahead of the game here. Did you really find a PC laptop though that actually runs quiet? After looking at the MacBook Pro support site there are a few reports of the new Macs having noise issues of their own.

Good to know, thanks!

In that case I may just go for the standard display.

Okay, so I don't have time to go through 74 pages of posts, so I'll just ask the question. I have Pro Tools LE 6.7 and an Mbox 1. I'm about to buy a new laptop. I'm looking at either a Dell XPS m140 and a Dell Inspiron E1505, but I don't know which is more suitable to run Pro Tools, or if there's even a difference between the two. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just bought ProTools LE and MBOX 2 and found out it is not compatible with my Toshiba laptop because of a chipset issue. So, I'm in the market for a new computer, what would be recomended? I am currently looking at an Acer Aspire. I am having a hard time with this because I like "brand-names". Anyone own an Acer and use PTLE on it?
