To Eric and OD, thanks for the great advice. I'll keep all in mind while setting up the new screens when they arrive

I had it enabled for about 5 minutes and then said "peh...." I like the classic mode myself. When you've been viewing something the same way for years and years, it's hard to change.

I know - old dog new tricks but once I tried dark mode I pretty much stayed there. I did go back for a couple of minutes to 'classic' and couldn't get back to the dark side quick enough. Easier on these old eyes (69 and counting) and I work in a darkened room for the most part.

What about when you fire up something like Melodyne though? It's like so bright compared to dark mode

I don't use Melodyne. Not had much success with it. Every other plugin gui I have is just fine with dark mode. Actually they look better in dark mode.

There's a period of adjustment -- no doubt -- but it's short, and once you're beyond it the GUI feels easier to navigate. Everyone's mileage does vary, however.

@musicman

which was the string that changed the grid line color?

i like the more transparent track names from yours too but i'm guessing that was one of the ones that took two lines

found it, it's this set of three lines

cTrackGridLineModeOn1Color
cTrackGridLineModeOn2Color
cTrackGridLineModeOn3Color

careful with 2 and 3, they get... weird.

Yeah - you have to be careful with these. When changing these also take into account the canvas color behind the grid lines. You can get into some combos that just don't work as you've found out
