Default Link Timeline And Edit Selection in PT8 - help..!

In PT7 I had "Link Timeline And Edit Selection" selected as default. During playback I could click on the screen, select regions etc, without interupting playback. And the next playback would start from wherever the cursor was. Those were wonderful days.

But in PT8 with "Link Timeline And Edit Selection" selected, as soon as I click anywhere on the screen it stops current playback and instead starts playing from wherever I just clicked. This is so fundamentally frustrating that I don't enjoy using PT8 anymore. If I unselect "Link Timeline And Edit Selection" then the problem goes away, but now the next playback doesn't start from where the cursor is.

Is there a fix - am I missing something really obvious?

Thanks,
Richie

Try "Insertion Follows Playback". I think that will help.

Another thing to try is deselecting Dynamic Transport in the Options menu.

Hope this helps.

Thank you both for your replies, but the winner is... Richard. It was Dynamic Transport, I had no idea that even existed. Thank you SO much!
