Hi all, i noticed that AD converters built around 2000/2001 in 192 i/o's where quite different with the ones built after 2003 mabe 2005 i don't know.
They are not built with the same components. Which brings me to the point i don't have same audio definition or color when A/B a mix through the 2001 & 2005 192. So my question would be is there any known issues with adding an old 2001 AD converter into a more recent 192 and vice versa ? Other question : is there a way to date an AD converter ? On the bottom of 192 i/o there is a sticker which indicates the production year, so mabe with the sérial number i thought there might be a way to date AD converters ? Thank you for any light

I have bought a Pro Tools 8 system and a Digidesign 192 (02 20 07) this summer . The Digidesign 192 sounds very musical and I am very happy with it. But it has started to have some issues recently - after an hour or so the device begins to emit pop sounds. Probably a sync issue.
So I bought a replacement Digidesign 192 (09/15/08). A spare unit in mint condition, but it sounds noticeably worse. Compared to the other Digidesign 192, there is less room, less 3D information and everything sounds crammed together and unpleasant. So I'm in the same situation as you. I want to know if I can swap the good converters from the device with the sync issue with the bad converters from the mint device with no sync issues. Were you able to find out which converter cards are compatible with which 192 device? |

At the time i swapped the bays from each other and it did fine.
Unlike you i haven't done any A/B between 192's But if you can : avoid 192 before 2005
