Default OS 10.13.2 Clean Install Driver Issues You Might Have (and how to fix them)

This regarding ProTools HD (HDX system).

I just did a clean install of OX 10.13.2, High Sierra, followed by an install of PT 12.8.3 and the matching HD Drivers. The drivers did not "take" in OSX, as reflected by ProTools starting in "native" mode, System Report showing no drivers for HDX card and ProTools and Audio/MIDI setup not showing active HDX. Multiple re-installs, rubbing two pieces of flint together, three glasses of cabernet – nothing worked.

Kudos to tech support for this (suddenly real glad to have a plan): There is an issue in OSX Prefs>Security and Privacy, where High Sierra blocks certain things. (Thanks Apple.) In my case, there was a message that said that software was not being allowed to be installed, and I clicked "Allow." A popup box appeared that said: "System software from following developers was blocked from loading," and gave me two Legacy Developer choices, neither of which seemed familiar. I checked them, and it forced a restart.

Upon restart I still did not have my drivers, but I installed them again, and on restart this time they came to life. I have the feeling that the sequence of events might not be precisely repeatable but in case someone out there is looking for help with this, check that out.

Deinstall / reinstall Pro_Tools (HD will depend on your license)

SSD Drive PT's HD12.8.3, Mac OS 10.13.2.

Trash the usual cache and some prefs...

Check your iLok App. 4+ works fine
