Default Tech Supt. Which G4 do U suggest?

When using Pro Tools, Is there a difference with the 500 mhz G4 or no noticable difference with the G4 400? (assuming no differences other than processor speed.)

In other words can I save bread and still be happy? (with the smaller Pee Pee)

thanks

That question must be answered by you.
Pro Tools will run fine on any G4.
i would think you should consider
your budget and other needs such as,
the applications your going to run and there
requirements, speed vs $$ ect...
Here is the link for the minimum requirements
and recomended giudelines for all Pro Tools

Thanks Mj.

I think i can afford the 500 but can't justify the (750) unless it makes a big difference. thanks again.

Tech Supt,

Perhaps I didn't phrase the question properly. Of the G4's that Digi has tested is there a NOTICIBLE speed difference (running Pro Tools) between the 400 and 500 G4?

thanks

In my opinion, you would see increased
performoance in situations such as high track counts( Screen redraw ). Sofware
synths( direct connect )But like I said
Get as much power as you can afford.
I bought a G4/400 with 320ram because
the extra $850 for 50mhz was not worth it
for me.
