Default ICON vs Control 24

I am a Digi002 + DV Toolkit 1 user thinking about the jump to HD (2 or 3) for music recording as well as video post. I am seriously considering expanding the control surface to either a C|24 or D-Command. I am struggling to justify the big price jump with the D-Command even though the richer functionality in the D-Command i very appealing.

The pre-amps on the C|24 are worth having in my situation, but the lack of any digital I/O on the C|24 is a challenge.

Anyone out there come from a C|24 to a D-Command? Care to comment on the transition or comparison from either a music production or video post perspective?

Money's tight, but I am almost certain Digi will soon need to introduce a lower cost entry level ICON in the C|24 price bracket - I'd hate to buy the "old" stuff only to find there's much more bang for the buck just around the corner (I guess this is the gear-junkie's lament!).

Suggestions or recommendations?

I would try and go D-Command.
Better analog monitor section plus 5.1 capable.
Custom Faders are handy to have.

I think the D-Command is the C24 replacement.

As for pers get some PreSonus M80s cheap and effective.

D Command is a pro control replacement. C24 is pretty old and will probably be replaced in the next year I would guess. However, you can add "digital I/O" to your C24 by purchasing a 192 Digital or even a 192. The control surface is an independent purchase of the pro tools system you are using.

D Command smokes it on every level. I would pick up a cheap used Pro Control on ebay before you buy a C24.
