Default Neverending problems PT10.3.7 installation on Mountain Lion

Hi,

I'm facing big issues since I want to install PT10.3.7 on my new iMac. Here is the story.

I used Migration Assistant to transfert data from an iMac Snow Leopard where PT10.0.0 were installed to a brand new iMac Mountain Lion. I uninstalled PT10.0.0 to install v10.3.7. Installed drivers for my Digi003 rack and iLok licence manager. Updated all my plugins.

First problem I had was some Avid Virtual instruments were missing. So I installed Avid Virtual Instruments. Then Hybrid 1.6 asked for authorization (common issue) so I deleted all Hybrid files to install v1.5.2 then update it to v1.5.3 that is fully compatible with PT10.3.7. but installation was not possible because "hybrid was already installed" (?????)

PT clean uninstallation > installation

Second problem was Avid CoreAudio was not auto-launching when it supposed to (when playing VLC for example). Tried to solve it... in vain.

PT clean uninstallation > installation

I had a third problem when I wanted to launch PT. I got this: "Impossible to create a document because of Assertion in "/Volumes/Development/ws.ProTools_10.3.7/AlturaPorts/DFW/MacBuild/../Views/UMenu.MacOS.mm", line 1351."

PT clean uninstallation > installation

Another problem during PT installation. AudioMIDI crashed twice.

PT clean uninstallation > installation (with Midi IO drivers previously installed)

Now I opened a session and realized there is another I/O issue. My 003 is detected but I no longer have all the analog inputs/outputs.

I try to get my computer ready for three days now, hoping to get answers and help on forums. I'm tired and I don't know how to fix that. Actually, I would like to start again from migration (I mean use Migration Assistant again) but I think it'd cause more issues since the new iMac has already data??? I'm stuck, I cannot work, I don't know what to do…. I NEED HELP!

Thanks a lot!

The solution was explained in the last thread. 10.3.7 and 10.8.5 should run completely flawlessly. Clearly whether it be a result of migration assistant or user error, something is wrong with OS X's audio framework. Your permissions look [bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep]ed too. The solution is very simple:

1) Back up any files you wish to retain.

2) Perform a clean install, boot from the recovery partition and wipe the HD. DO NOT USE MIGRATION ASSISTANT.

3) Install PT 10.3.7

For some reason my foul language has been censored by Avid. The curse word has been replaced with a crude "[Bleep]" this makes me sad.

Thank you tmitchell!
Someone adviced me to install combo updater and see if it solves the problems. If it doesn't, I'll do what you said.

Well speak nicely then

On another note, it makes me wonder why in the States it is somehow more dirty to say out loud what comes out of you every now and then, compared to calling whatever god you worship... Here where I live it's the other way around.

All in all, better speak easy :)

Thanks a lot guys for your help!
I installed PT and plugins... I have Music Production Toolkit II and some plugins are missing. Not that they are great but some of them are quite good in some cases (Eleven, cosmanaut voice for example). Where can I download them?

Didn't the MPTK disappear with v9 or v10 of Pro Tools?

Cheers,

Maybe but some plugins are missing and what if I used them in some sessions?

Problems are coming again... Avid AudioCore does not auto-launch when I want to listen to some listen outside of PT. What is going on?? I did install my stuff from clean install. Installed all the drivers, etc. and now it still does not work properly?! My Digi003 works perfectly on my old iMac so it's not that it broken or something... Any idea?

Edit: I opened Avid Audiocore manager on my old imac just to see how it is set. I didn't change anything. Now it does no longer work properly! I cannot even listen to music with VLC, itunes, on youtube. Errrr.... If someone can explain how this stuff works it could be great! Advice, solution?
