Help needed with corrupt SDII audio files
Help needed with corrupt SDII audio files:
We have 6 audio files in the SDII format that have corrupt resource forks. Of course, this prevents us from using these much needed files in any way. After a quick bout with Resource Remover PPC, ResEdit, and Norton Disk Editor+, we now know we have no idea how to resurrect these files. After removing the resource fork and copying the STR and LGWV resources back into the offending files, this yields a file of the proper length, channel and bit depth. Unfortunately this file has at least 24db more gain on it than it should, and plays as mostly white noise. The quiet passages (background noise between sections) sound nice and loud, but this hardly helps. If this description makes any sense to you whatsoever, or more importantly makes you say 'Aha, I know how to fix that!'... you're the person we're looking for. [email protected] |

Re: Help needed with corrupt SDII audio files
you might try just removing the resources and try importing them into something like sound ap as "raw" audio files. I moved a lot of files over to a windows system once and that ofcourse stripped the rescources off but I was able to import them into sound forge as raw files (you do have to know sample rate and such) it worked well.
good luck SK |

Copied from another thread: (let us know if it works)
Courtesy of member- HeLikesitMikey "Drag an existing file type that works OK on your mac to "Res-Edit" Then drag one of the bad ones onto Res-Edit as well. Next do a copy paste from (do a "file info" first) the good one's file and creator type, to the bad one and it should open fine."

Re: Help needed with corrupt SDII audio files
I have had this problem on occasion, and discovered a wierd but so far effective solution. Inmy case, I discovered after a lot of messing around with different things that while I couldn't even see the files in the PT file selector, i could see them, open them, and play them from masterlist. So I burned a CD, used Toast audio extractor to rip the files, and then inported them into the session by renaming them with the appropriate "missing" file names, and selecting them, whem PT asked me..."where is.....". It worked ( I had lost all the sync audio from a television session from over a year ago, and the producers wanted to update one line)
Anyway, good luck... John A |
