002 makes a clicking sound, 1394 light flashing
Hi there,
My 002 is making a clicking sound and the 1394 link light is flashing along with the click. When I launch Pro Tools, it tells me that no Digi hardware is connected. I've also occasionally experienced the message, "Pro Tools has lost communication with the 002 ...", but it has re-established communication quickly all by itself, maybe this could be related? I'm hoping that there's a way to "reset" the 002 somehow and that might magically fix it. Hey, I can hope, can't I? Hopefully someone can tell me what's going on here. Thanks in advance for your help! Jeff W! |

Re: 002 makes a clicking sound, 1394 light flashin
Disconnect the Firewire cable, turn on the 002. If it clicks more than three times, and/or continues clicking, something is wrong. There's a good possiblity it's the 'power harness problem' that has plagued 002 and 002R all along.
Call Digidesign, they'll know exactly what you're talking about. It's way too common.

Re: 002 makes a clicking sound, 1394 light flashin
Hello,
First post because I am experiencing the same problem. I have had my Digi 002R for about two weeks. I hooked it up to my Powerbook to start working on some live tracks, and starting experiencing this clicking and blinking firewire port problem. Among the messages I get are "the firewire bus has been reset" and the "lost communication". The unit will stop all playback, click, and the 1394 light on the back will flash and blink wildly, which really seems like a hardware problem. What is the way to go about getting this fixed? I have only had my 002R a couple weeks, so I haven't registered it yet. Please help as I have a few location tracking booked in the coming weeks! |

Re: 002 makes a clicking sound, 1394 light flashin
If it continues clicking, when not connected to the firewire, it's got a problem. You can return it (depending on where you bought it), or call Digidesign.
If it seems to disconnect sporadically, but doesn't just click when firewire is unplugged, it might be something else in your configuration.

Re: 002 makes a clicking sound, 1394 light flashin
I left the unit on beside my desk when I left it this morning to see if it would get rid of the problem itself.
I had a chance to sit down at my desk without music playing this evening, and with it disconnected, it was doing the click thing again. |

This is a way common issue and it doesn't occur with the Rack edition of 002, my friend had to take it in to get serviced through digidesign waratny...it disconnects and goes offline alot...call them thats your best bet
