I noticed in the PDF manual that there is a chart listing latency figures for using channel inserts or sends on the TDM system. (for ex. 2 samples when adding an insert at 48K) etc.with the reccomendation to shift your tracks accordingly to offset the phase effect.. .but there is no mention of this concerning the 001. Is this because it does'nt happen or because the times can not be judged due the various processors being used on the 001 as opposed to the DIGI installed farm cards. If it does exist how might one Identify and correct.

hmmm..I was hoping to get a reply to this post.
I see guys sliding tracks around all the time on TDM sessions to compensate for latency and its effect on phase coherence due to sends..inserts etc. In fact as mentioned in the manual there is a TDM prog specifically for this task...anyone doing this in 001? If you really want to here the effect of this ..take a bass guitar where you have a DI and a mic'd amp signal and slide one of the tracks a couple samples in the edit window. It's like having a wawa pedal on the bass and this small track misalignment can alter the sound of stereo or multi mic'd instruments quite alot. What brought this up was an album I transfered from the Alesis HD 24 recorder into PT001 for mixing..it had a noticibly different tonality. My thoughts were 1, converters, 2, wordclock and or jitter, 3, this here phase thing. anyway if anyone has any thoughts I'd like to here them Thanks BB

Here's a discussion by Digi Engineering (Kenn LeGault) on the subject. I think it addresses some of your concerns.
