Default HD12.7 update + Kensington Expert mouse = Shortcuts behave differently

This is incredibly small, but sometimes it's the little things that defy muscle memory that annoy most...

I program the top L and R buttons ("middle click" and "button 4" in SteerMouse) on my Kensington expert mouse to input the "+" and "-" keys allowing me to nudge frame by frame quickly while editing. Adding combos of modifiers to these with my left hand (cmd, opt, ctrl, shift) allowed me to adjust grid / nudge values or make selections without breaking stride. After 12.7 update, the mouse will nudge as always (confirming my shortcut works) but adding the modifiers doesn't! Since this defies logic I've become curious enough to ask if anyone knows what's up with that?
