Carbon Pre LED brightness
I searched around the DUC for a previous thread on this subject but couldn't find anything. Apologies if there is one - please reply with a link and I'll re-post there.
I have a Carbon and a Carbon Pre. The brightness of the LEDs on the Carbon Pre is much less those on the Carbon, which are adjustable, unlike the LEDs on the Pre which are fixed brightness and, quite frankly, pitifully dim. It's bad enough that Avid re-designed the front panel aesthetics so that the Carbon Pre doesn't match the Carbon, but for the LED display to be so dim as to be virtually useless is unacceptable. I hope someone from Avid tech support and/or design team reads the DUC and will respond. |

Re: Carbon Pre LED brightness
The info is in the guide as well as tucked into the FAQ. You can adjust the brightness of Carbon to match Pre.
The illumination difference i due to differing switch key caps. Q: I have a Carbon and a Carbon Pre that I used in Expanded Mode. The LED's are different brightnesses between the units, is there anything I can do about this? A: Yes, you can adjust the brightness of the Carbon Front panel to match your Carbon Pre by pressing and holding the METER button and release after two seconds to be able to cycle through the 4 different brightness modes for Carbon.

Re: Carbon Pre LED brightness
Hi Mark,
Thanks for your reply. I don't really think that reducing the brightness of the Carbon's LEDs is much of a solution - partly because, on the Carbon Pre, they're just too dim and i wouldn't want to run either unit with buttons which are almost unreadable. Also, if Avid is going to provide a brightness control (which is very welcome by the way) then it ought to be possible to adjust both the Carbon and the Carbon Pre in the same fashion. Why on earth did someone at Avid decide to use button caps which are less transparent than those on the Carbon? |

Re: Carbon Pre LED brightness
Also, the Carbon's LED brightness control doesn't affect the brightness of the LEDs inside the NET indicator and the power button, so it will never match the Carbon Pre.

Re: Carbon Pre LED brightness
Thanks for letting me know. I took a look and there is an open bug on the NET LED, so it's on the map of things to get fixed.

Re: Carbon Pre LED brightness
Thanks for the quick response, Mark.
Does the bug also apply to the LED inside the power button? |
