Just another vote that software only price for PT9HD --> HD10 is incredibly high. Been onboard with card based system since PT4. I think $1000 is close to the total for all upgrades combined from PT4 to PT9HD!!!

And the hardware upgrade prices I have seen so far are not at all compelling...... HD1+interface trade in credit = $2K (that is pretty close to 50% of current market value!)........ "not very nice at all.... precious...."

Maybe now I can get Mercury TDM for $250......... LOL

Avid, you guys have lost your minds with the upgrade pricing. I have PT8 HD and was patiently waiting for the bugs in PT9 to get ironed out before upgrading. Pleasantly surprised to hear about PT10 at AES. Then I saw the upgrade price.
$1500! Are you kidding me? For a software upgrade?

If this price is a ploy to nudge users towards hardware exchanges, then congratulations, you've nudged me towards looking at other DAWs in the future. in fact, you've FORCED me to.

$1500 to upgrade a software program is an insult to all of us who have invested thousands of dollars into your hardware for years. Why would I want to invest in more of your hardware when you pull nonsense like this? How disappointing.

Thankfully, I see from the responses on this forum that I'm not the only one who feels this way.

It's the same pricing philosophy as the Native HD system, which somehow is supposed to be worth 3500.00, without an interface.

As far as I know, Disk Cache is entirely an HD/CPTK feature. All of the documentation on the Avid.com site leads me to believe this is true. I don't see disk cache mentioned anywhere except for on the HD page and the CPTK page.
