Default Mtrx talkback latch and momentary

Hi Folks!

Subject line speaks for itself. Are there options for different setups for talkback functionality?

Talkback is latch when clicked (short tap).
Talkback is momentary with clicked and held (long hold.)

Pretty standard functionality.
This is via Eucon or DAD MOM controller.

I believe (don't have it in front of me right now) but the S6 has a menu option to make the talkback "always latch" or "always momentary" in addition to the standard hybrid mode.

And you can use a foot trigger with Eucon to control talkback.
It's pretty much up to what is doing the controlling rather than the MTRX itself.
(or if you are only doing it via a mouse on DADman clicking on the "Talk" button, then it is always latch -- if that's what you mean)

I prefer to have it automated(it doesn't take long for people to remember the TB mics are hot as long as transport is stopped). But I was doing 5-6 HP mixes from the PT session(TB mics feeding AUX tracks with Sound Radix Mute-o-Matic plugin).

Thanks! Yup I have an ICON and S6's in our rooms and this all works as expected. This is for a new system where I just have the MTRX Studio + a footswitch. It *appears* to me to be the case that with a momentary switch - clicking and holding or not produce the same result - on and then it must be clicked again to go off. Any guidance on just a footswitch with MTRX would be great.

Greetings,

I just double checked this one on MTRX + MOM and MTRX Studio with an old school Tascam RC-30P switch, and it works as advertised for both. Quick tap and you latch TB. Tap again to turn it off. Press and hold the footswitch to engage - then on release the TB shuts off.

best,

Jeff

Thank you!! I’ll check first thing tomorrow back at the studio. Problem is I have some directors who will want to click quickly. Is there anyway to set it to permanent momentary?

This is confirmed behavior. But I still have folks who click too quick. Can this be adjusted in the dock app?

Yeah, somewhere along the way someone decided that this should be "standard" behavior, but zero large format analog music consoles behave this way. Honestly I really wish we could turn OFF the latching behavior. Go into *any* scoring stage or large recording studio and you'll see that all talkbacks (and there's often a half dozen around the room) are momentary only - latching talkback is a disaster in those rooms and it's a huge annoyance here. I don't know anyone that I work with who actually uses the latching behavior except by accident.

Agreed.
The only time I use latch is during setup when I need to talk to people on the scoring stage moving things around. But most (all?) of the scoring stages have a way to do that.
