Re: Cheapest way to upgrade PT HD 11 to pro tools ultimate 2020?
Personally, I would walk away and never look back. If you are questioning whether the 600GBP is worth it to get to PT 2020, the decisions really only get worse after you pay that 600GBP. From there, you will be required to pay an additional 384GBP every year, year on year just to have the option to upgrade at some point in the future. There is no skipping payments. If you miss one, Avid will lock your license off and bid you farewell, offering instead a new 800GBP a year subscription license, or a new 2000GBP perpetual license as your only means of upgrading.
For someone who has successfully rocked PT11 up until now, there is very little in 2020 for you. Certainly not 600GBP worth of new features. On the flip side, Studio One is on sale at the moment. For the 600GBP, you'll get a professional license... and still have enough money left over to cover upgrades for about the next decade. It appears a bunch of people are using PT11 successfully with Windows 10. I would investigate that as an interim option... or just rock a system that works as is.

Re: Cheapest way to upgrade PT HD 11 to pro tools ultimate 2020?
I think PT11 will do whatever he needs to do...
He can get a 2012 MP and rock till the cows come home.... There isn’t anything that he needs with PT2020 No need to upgrade just keep rocking

Re: Cheapest way to upgrade PT HD 11 to pro tools ultimate 2020?
From what I can tell, there's some sort of script that the software is supposed to tell Mojave that it's trying to access the system's microphone under privacy settings.
Looks as though if someone can find a way to force ProTools hd 11 to ask Mojave or Catalina access to the system's microphone then audio will at least come through to it. Just gonna leave this here. |

PT11 was last supported in 10.10.x so I would not even suggest trying to try it on Mojave, which requires PT 2019.5 or later. Compatibility info here.

Re: Cheapest way to upgrade PT HD 11 to pro tools ultimate 2020?
I think what really doesn't help is the damn t2 chip in the new Macs that prevents you from downgrading to an older O.S. primarily because the drivers in older O.S. marques are not compatible with the newer hardware.
Long and the short of it... If you want New, you gotta be prepared to pay new too! |

Re: Cheapest way to upgrade PT HD 11 to pro tools ultimate 2020?
Downgrading has always been the same: you can only go as old as the OS version when the machine was first released. T2 has nothing to do with it. You can trick T2 to allow downgrade but the downgrade only works if the hardware has ever been sold with the version you are trying to install.

Re: Cheapest way to upgrade PT HD 11 to pro tools ultimate 2020?
If I want to get Pro Tools 2019, is it possible to buy a license from someone or do I just need to skip to 2020 at the bargain price of £600?

Cheapest way to upgrade PT HD 11 to pro tools ultimate 2020?
Quote:
If your dealing with new software issue and you have the cash buy the upgrade.... It will be yours it will be good for 12 months worth of updates. If you buy somebody’s used 2019 your locked up at the last version, it will work but it won’t have 12 months of upgrades / be sure and get the digi link io asset as well with the purchase If you have the cash for a new Apple then Avids price is pennies

I get what you're saying, and no I don't have the cash for a new apple. Only the Mac mini which is similarly priced to the cost of a new license!

Re: Cheapest way to upgrade PT HD 11 to pro tools ultimate 2020?
Just tried to upgrade to pro tools ultimate via cross grading on the avid website.
https://shop.avid.com/ccrz__ProductD...&sku=DYNA0000& It won't let me upgrade. I log in to my avid master account and get a message stating: Sorry, your account can't be used in Avid Store. Please contact the Customer Support team. Any ideas? |
