12.5.1 running smooth here day 3 of dial premix with my HDX1 - not a blip yet video wise. Better looping than on 12.4

AJA IO XT on on OSX 10.10.3

The only issue I've had with the video engine is the occasional pressing of play and being a second out of sync, where I've to stop and play again.

Annoying when in a source connect session where you're out of sync with the artist who is on the other side during a take or playback.

FWIW...

I have 20+ systems on 12.4 native, osx 10.9.5

Some have Black Magic, Some have AJA, and some just float a quicktime.

They are ALL unacceptable in my opinion. YES, BM drivers do have their issues... but... AJA and Floating a quicktime are also an issue...

One thing I HAVE noticed is the average number of crashes per day (anecdotally) coincides to how old the mixer is... the older guys that move slower... crash almost never... younger guys moving quicker... more crashes...

Crashing at least twice a day. Video engine can't stop... then have to fully reboot pro tools.

Did an ADR session last week and had the run-on video issue five or six times. Fortunately, I can fix it without a restart or reboot by changing the buffer settings, then changing them back. Still, a session disrupter and total PIA. This was on 10.5.1 in Windows 8.1.

I'm running 3 HD Native systems on identical Mac pro 5,1's

1) Yosemite, PT 12.4
2) Mavericks, PT 12.2.?
3) El Capitain, PT 12.5.2

All three have multiple Avid Video Engine crashes per day. I'm still trying to find the most stable combination, but it seems to elude me.

It seems to be related to the Mac Pro.
My 5.1 PTHD does it, the production company's 4.1 PTHD does it. (Video engine unable to stop) Followed day a crash.

I also run PT 12.5 on 2 Mac Mini Quad I7 2.6 servers, and NEVER a crash.
I run the same sessions, with the same DNXHD videos, I also use the PTHD key on the Minis!!
No video engine crashes.

Hmm good info. interesting... Most of my systems are those same Mac mini i7 quads and they are hit or miss... def usable, but AVE still gets cranky every once in a while... I have nothing else to compare them to in my facility that gets as much daily use though...
