Well you are correct, the DigiDesign we knew decades ago is no longer. And all hardware that has DigiDesign logo have been discontinued and out of support soon if not already.

Avid is Avid and sells current Avid stuff. While I loved to use ICON's (not own but use) nevertheless I would take Avid S6L any day.

Didn't mean to be rude.

No worries, you're not rude.

I'm not an expert there, but even on the Live console business I believe Avid is losing its battle with Audiotonix (Digico, A&H).

Again, there's nothing better than the sound of HD/HDX on the market today, especially when sessions are getting big.

Tried almost everything, yeah, the one track vs one track sounds almost the same, but try 40 stereo tracks at 96 kHz, add some inserts and sends, and make an A/B then: nothing will give you the "air" and "space" and "uncompressed feeling" of the HD/HDX mixer.
I love them, absolutely number one ever.

So how come with such an amazing product people ended up searching and looking for alternatives?

Because they don't like the company policy.
Because they don't like the Avid atmosphere.
Because they understand they won't feel appreciated in the long term.

So my point is NOT about the quality here, but about the company management.

Reminds me of when Sony bought MCI... what a disaster...
They killed the best mixer ever done.

So Avid killed Digidesign, Euphonix, and they're still struggling in the stock market...
Difficult to do worse management than that!

All best
