Hey Wally,

You must have the "I/O" view visible in the Edit window of Pro Tools. This will give you the ability to select the destination drive for your digitized video.

Thanks Jon,

That makes perfect sense seeing as I never have the i/o showing in my edit window

Is this were you select what format the video will be recorded as also?

Wally

With Mojo, no. It's only capable of digitizing DV25 video. With the older Avid Meridian hardware, yes. You could select different video resolutions there.

With Mojo, however, you can select, in this same place, which video inputs you will use to digitize the video... composite or SVideo or Component if you have the necessary adaptor cable. The video output selection is there too but all are active at the same time so they are greyed out.

Although the Mojo can only capture in Pro Tools at DV25, it can playback 1:1, DV25, (DV50, I think?), 14:1p, 15:1s, 28:1 and 35:1 in Pro Tools and you can mix and match these resolutions together in a single Pro Tools session at the same time.

Jon,

I think i've found my answer, I just downloaded avid free and it looks like if I import a quicktime into it, it converts it to a format that the mojo will see. Is this the best way?

Default Avid Mojo with Pro Tools 6.9.1

HI,
I am using protools HD accel 3 (ver 6.9.1) with avid Mojo on MAC 10.3.7. As per the procedure, we should digitize the picture through Media Station PT and import it to the protools. But in protools the video is routing in the Avid movie track through AVID Mojo. Is this is recommandable to digitize directly onto protools with timecode. Pls clarify me.

Thanx

Mayak.

You can record directly in Pro Tools, through the Mojo. You do not need Media Station to record this way. Create an Avid movie track, select a drive to record video media to, select the type of video input as Jon described. Lock Pro Tools to your video tape, using timecode, and record. You can capture picture and sound at the same time. Pro Tools will record picture with DV25 resolution directly into your Pro Tools session.

You only need Media Station to import/export quicktime formats and to conform audio from EDLs. It has video input adjustments, too, that Pro Tools does not have. This last reason is why I always use Media Station.
