No sound when recording ???

Hi everybody.

For the first time in a year I have a good piece to record, now when I rec-enable the track I still hear my guitar, when I hit the play button no input appears in the meter. This while having pre fadermetering selected. I tried the monitor mode button on the breakoutbox, nothing. Fiddled with the settings in the operations menu, nothing. Changed analog inputs, changed buffer size from 1024 to 512, nope. I'm out of ideas.

What happens when you press record instead of play?

Have you tried "Input Only Monitor" from the operations menu (or Alt-K)?

Yes I tried input only Monitor as the other option I forgot, in the Operations menu. No results.

Are you playing thru an Audio or Aux track. If an Aux, you need to raise the volume.

I believe the problem you are a describing may have to do with having the wrong input assigned to the rec enabled track. Verify that the input you select on the screen is the one where your guitar is plugged into.

Do you have a send on the track? Is the send fader up? Is the Master Fader up?

I just created an aux track, set the audiotrack to input analg. in 7/8, on which the gtr was put, routed it to the aux and had both faders up. This was just today, yesterday I was trying to record straight to the audiotrack, having no aux created.

I have sound when the track's rec enabled, song not playing. When I want to monitor while playing the session without recording I hit play and hear nothing. When I do try to record no file appears, not even a silent track. Just making sure I tell it all correctly....

No sends, inserts, no master audio track.

Just installed the ptle64cs7 update with no luck. Is this a matter of RTFM with PT 6.x? Haven't had this with 5.3 but I'm not sure if I haven't already successfully recorded some audiotrack since I upgraded to 6.3. This is getting weird. I'm just having the warranty period expired this month so I hope my 001 isn't screwed up.

Got it working now. I still can't monitor my guitar without having to record it but at least I can make a recording now. Don't know what I did that fixed it, I messed around changing the same parameters over again but at least I made some progress. I can only hope this won't happen again.

Setting monitoring to Input Only instead of Auto Input will allow you to monitor while playing. If this doesn't work, as you stated at the top, there is a problem somewhere in the chain.

Tnx Cliffy Boy. Must have been somewhere in the chain. I have tried Input Only to no avail but it works now. I'm not so far that I can post a tune but I can go on now with the song.
