Default Word clock sync

Trying to connect via spdif my Joe Meek Twin Q preamp, I realised that there is something I don't understand...

First, PT would not let me get starting, saying that the external clock was wrong. In the end I found the right connection and I was able to record. I didn't feel any latency and the recording went smoth. But on the Joe Meek is a blue light that is supouse to blink when the device in connected to a daw. Mine is not blinking.

So...here is the question: The fact that PT is working and that the recording went well implies that PT and the preamp ARE corectly connected?
